Gender Reveal for Little Lerma #3!

The gender reveal this year was SO much fun, and probably because it fell around Christmas time. I mean, really, is there a better gift for Christmas than finding out the gender of your little one!? It just makes everything so much more real!

This year we decided to go to the store and pick out a girl and boy onesie (same size, same brand, same price, etc. just in case we had to look at the receipt for some reason) and have the cashier read the letter that said the gender, and only ring up the appropriate one. She then wrapped it in (no joke!) 13 bags so we couldn't see any colors through the bag.

We then got home, placed the bags in a box, and wrapped it. And then had to wait for 2 excruciating days while that box sat under the tree.

I have never wanted to find out something so much in my entire life!

I was fully expecting, and somewhat wanting, a girl. The rest of my family was divided (Mimi, Tia and Isabella thought it was a girl while Pops, Uncle G and Daddy said Boy). I will say, Jon was leaning towards girl but at the last minute changed his mind and said while he wanted a girl, he had a feeling it was a boy.

Either way, we unwrapped our present and got the biggest surprise!

This was right after I explained to the girls what we were doing, and Bella got really concerned that the baby was in the box! She asked if she was ok, and if she was wiggling in there!

This was the moment it sunk in, we were actually having a boy, and we said NOOOO WAY....it's a BOY!!!!

This was the moment where Isabella started to cry saying she wanted a baby sister!

A BOY!!!!

We are beyond thrilled and can't wait to see our little baby boy! This is definitely a game changer with us and our family. He will be the first little boy on my side of the family (I don't even have any boy cousins or anything!). But, BOY oh BOY are we excited!!

Time to go pick out little boy clothes and fun things, because we know pink and ruffles and princess dresses have overtaken our lives over the last 3 years!  Little BOY Lerma, we can't wait to meet you!!

10 Week Bumpdate!

The first trimester of pregnancy is such a strange thing because you don't yet look pregnant, you just look really bloated and a little fat. You also feel ridiculously pregnant with all of the exhaustion, nausea, gasiness, moodiness, etc etc etc., and yet, you have to keep this all to yourself (or at least mostly to yourself if you have told some family and close friends). Ugh, here's to looking forward to next month when *hopefully* the second trimester fun begins. I look forward to not keeping this secret anymore, to actually looking pregnant, and to getting some of my energy back.

How Big is Baby: The size of a kumquat
Orange kumquat with stem and leaves on light-green plate

Weight Gain: Somehow despite the incredibly unhealthy eating I've been doing, and lack of working out, I'm down 1/2 lb from where I started pre-pregnancy.That being said, I'm still hoping to keep weight gain on the low side of normal given I started 16 lbs above my "normal healthy" weight (AKA: pre-Isabella!).
Workouts: Let's just be real honest here...NONE! Not a single one. There were a couple days when I thought "Oh I could do some easy weights or yoga while the girls nap" but the couch and Christmas movies won every single time.

Maternity Clothes: Not yet but I'm thinking about pulling a few pieces out of the bin soon. Loving stretch pants with long flowy shirts or sweat shirts. And I LOVE the fact that my job requires me to wear scrubs!

Belly Button: Innie

Sleep: Sensitive subject. I'm tired all the time, and yet sleep doesn't come easy. I actually fall asleep quickly at night (usually around 9 pm, although there's been a few 8:30 nights as well!), but I wake up once to pee and have such a hard time going back to sleep.  I wish I was a good napper because there have been so many days where even a 20 minute cat napped would have helped me get through the evening, but I just can't seem to fall asleep! That being said the last 2 nights I've fallen asleep around 8:45 and slept a glorious 10 hours straight. Little piece of heaven I tell ya!

Cravings: Not really craving anything specific, except sushi which stinks because I can't have it. Otherwise, I've been eating a lot of fig bars as soon as I wake up, egg salad sandwiches for second breakfast, and mostly carbs after that. I made a few different soups with crusty dipping bread last week, mostly so I could justify eating bread, yet again, for dinner! Also loving sparkling water!!

Aversions: Animal protein never sounds great but I'm still eating it and it goes ok. Otherwise there's not anything I absolutely can't eat unlike the last 2 pregnancies.

What I Missed: Energy, working out and feeling good.

Symptoms: Nausea off and on all day long. Crazy gas and bloating. Pregnancy insomnia. Moodiness.

Movement: Lots of movement in there thanks to gas. Nothing from the baby yet : )

Gender: I'm going with girl. Jon has NO clue this time around.

Best Moment this Week: Seeing our little nugget on US, doing a little wiggle dance. Oh. SO. Cute!!!

Heart rate: 173
Measuring right at 9 weeks (when I was 9 weeks) and about the 20th percentile

Worst Moment this Week: Feeling emotional, a little overwhelmed, and questioning whether or not I can be a Mama of 3. Guess there's no going back now : )

What I am Looking Forward to: Getting some energy back. Working out. And Christmas with the girlies this week! It has truly been a fun season with a 2 and 3 year old! Christmas through their eyes is magical!

8 Week Bumpdate

8 weeks down, 32ish to go (probably more like 31, but we shall see!!).  On one hand that seems like a very long time. On the other, I know it's going to fly right by just like the last two pregnancies did.

How Big is Baby: The size of a kidney bean. Or another site said a raspberry, which is kinda cuter : )
Handful of kidney beans in white dish on wood table

Weight Gain: ***

Workouts: Oh man the exhuastion has set in full force, and with the running around after 2 toddlers, and just trying to keep my house clean, any spare minute I get during naptime (which is the easiest time for me to workout) is spent laying and trying to recoup. And then two minutes later Aubrey wakes up :)  That being said, Jon and I got away for my birthday weekend so we got in a great cardio and weights session together. Other than that week 6 I didn't get any other workouts in : ( Week 7 I cleaned my house top to bottom over the course of two days which has to count for something, and at work climbed the two flights of stairs between the North and South PICU at least 1000 times, so there are calories burned, right!? As for a "regular" workout I got in a hill walk and short weights session with my sister, which was fun.

Maternity Clothes: Not yet

Belly Button: Innie

Sleep: Bedtime is officially 9:30 and I'm usually out by then. Not to mention I'm usually crawling into bed by 8:30!  Sleeping better than the past two weeks, but still wake up once or twice a night to pee which is just obnoxious. Luckily, most days I've been able to go back to sleep and am not up for good like weeks past.

Cravings: Not really craving anything in particular, but I've definitely had more of a sweet tooth than in past pregnancies. Gram crackers have become a staple a couple of days when everything else makes me wanna vomit. And then there was the night (Aubrey's bonfire birthday) that I had a vanilla coke and a s'more for dinner, so there's that health dinner for the win!

Aversions: Luckily nothing is COMPLETELY off limits just yet, but there are moments when anything protein (eggs, chicken, turkey, beef, fish, etc) does NOT sound good. That being said, I usually choke it down, and feel better in the nausea department afterwards. I can actually say wine has NOT sounded good to me at all, so when Jon has had a glass at night, or we had friends over for dinner and they were all enjoying it, I didn't feel like I was missing out a bit.

What I Missed: I really wanted a cold beer the other night when we had some friends over for Nachos, chips and guac. And definitely missing my energy. I look forward to the day that cleaning my house during nap time doesn't completely wipe me out for the rest of the evening!

Symptoms: Nausea, but nothing terrible, and nothing that ginger frequently doesn't help. Just a low level, kinda gagging, but not going to throw up nausea. Generally bad in the morning til I eat something, better during the day, and then worse again at bedtime. Luckily work days the nausea is much more manageable, but I'm finding the day after I work I'm just flat out exhausted and with worse nausea. On another front, I'm peeing like a crazy lady which is SO not like me. And exhaustion, oh the exhaustion.

Movement: Gas bubbles count!?

Gender: I'm thinking girl this week. Jon agrees...or maybe just hopes.

Best Moment this Week: Being able to get away for my birthday weekend and truly enjoy it, including an amazing dinner at a Tapas place, and a great brunch the next morning. With all the nausea and limited food I was sticking to just before hand, it was fun to get away and really enjoy it all!

Also, being able to tell my family (on Thanksgiving) and our best friends (a few days later) that we're pregnant was AWESOME! And now so much more free. I HATE keeping secrets like that!!

Worst Moment this Week: Feeling like I'm down for the count a few days this last week. I hate that I can't enjoy the famiy tie or time with the girls like normal. But it's all for a good cause!

What I am Looking Forward to: Seeing our little nugget on US!
