Aubrey 21 Months!

Oh how we love this little lady so. To say she brings us pure joy is an understatement. To say she brings feistiness and Angry Elf at times would also be an understatement (terrible 2s, we are in big trouble!). But she is one of the happiest, silliest, entertaining little toddlers I've ever seen, and I'm so grateful that she's mine!

Happy 21 Months Aubrey Lynn!

21 Month Highlights:

-You are saying more and more words that actually make sense to us. I should keep a daily list b/c I always forget when it comes time to putting it on the blog but here's what I remember today: Mama, Dada, Baba (Isabella), Mimi, "Paa" (Pops), Bug and Bird (which usually come out as "Buh" and "Bir"), Diaper ("Dye dye"), bubble, ball, shides (slides), Poo Poo, Awa (for agua), please and por favor, shake, "Go go" which means run in a circle like a crazy lady,  Shoes, eyes, nose, "I did it", Oh Man, There it is, Yay, Wait, "Ho ho ho" (yes, she loves the santa hat!), and prob a bunch more that aren't coming to my mind just yet.

-Isabella and Aubrey are playing together more and more these days and it's just so sweet to watch.  They have their moments of fighting which ultimately ends up with Bella in tears and Aubrey screaming, but the sweet moments are oh so sweet. They can make each other laugh like nobody else, and they seem to have a little language of their own and understand each other when nobody else can.
Behind the scenes to the photo shoot. Isabella knows how to make her laugh and smile!

-You love dressing up and every time you get dressed and mama says "Oh you are beautiful" you love to twirl around in circles. While I think a lot of you will be a tomboy as you get older (just like Mama), you still have a very girly side to you.

-Now that Isabella is in preschool, you and Mama get 2 days to spend together. We like to go for runs and then go to the park afterward most days, but we've also run some errands and gone to the outlet mall (which may or may not have involved Auntie Annes pretzel bites that you devoured!).

-You LOVE being at the park. You love running around. You love swinging. You love climbing on things and under things. And you LOVE slides. It's fun to watch you go down one all by yourself and say "Wheeeeee" all the way down. Then you jump off, and shout "I deeeed it!"

-You are still attempting to potty train yourself, and while you certainly don't poop on the potty daily, you are telling us "poo poo pottay" much more frequently. Sometimes you end up just peeing, but hey, any little bit to help with actual potty training I'll take!

-Mimi and Pops moved in with us officially this month and we are so excited to have them here! You love waking up and seeing them!  You've also enjoyed quite a bit of time on their patio and doing chalk on the big concrete wall.
As a side note, you and Dani Leigh are 2 peas in a pod. You have such similar personalities and play SO well together. Unlike Isabella and DL who are like oil and vinegar.

Sleeping: Sleep has been a touchy subject this month b/c you have had some sleep regression which makes for one tired Mama! Bedtime is still 7:30 and most nights you go to sleep without problems. Except when you don't. And then it's back and forth between rocking you, singing, and trying to put you back in your crib.  On the nights you have trouble this goes on til about 9 or 9:30 and then you go to sleep. The bigger problem is on those nights, you tend to wake up around 3 or 4 am, and once again just want lots of snuggles (or more milk) for about an hour, until you go back to sleep. I know this won't last forever, but on sleep-less nights, it doesn't always feel that way!

My feelings exactly : )
You nap from 1 til 3 or 3:30, but about twice a week, your nap only lasts about an hour.

One thing that is consistent, is you always wake up cranky. You cry and scream and kick on your crib til we come get you. Once we are in there, you smile and are happy, but you certainly are not content in your crib for 1 sec after you wake up.
Perhaps I shouldn't have blogged about sleep issues on a day when I have been up since 3:40 am....probably coming across more dramatic than it really is. Or maybe not.
Eating: You are still really picky but you crack us up and slightly amaze us with the things you really like. You still won't eat a vegetable to save your life. But spicy salsa with chips (mostly just the salsa), or Mama's somewhat spicy white turkey chili, or things with peppers in them, are totally fine for you.  Other favorites: Mimi's black beans, ham, cheese, squeezies, strawberries, necatrines, plain greek yogurt, cheerios, and eggs.

Aubrey 20 Months!

Good grief, time is just flying by right before my eyes and I can't even keep up. I was a week late taking this months picture, and then as I went to upload it to the blog, I realized I took a second 19 month picture! Gah!  So apparently you can't be the same age 2 months in a row. It wasn't worth the hassle of taking yet another picture (she already took her cute outfit off b/c it was too big...but it was too cute not to take a pic in b/c it used to be mine!), so thank you photo editor!

Happy 20 Months Aubrey Lynn!

20 Month Highlights:

-You love drinking milk first thing in the morning (which also conveniently buys us time before we have to rush downstairs to feed you breakfast!), and you call it "Moo Moos" which cracks us up b/c I'm sure you aren't putting together that it's cow's milk! Sweet none the less!

-We love that we can live in a new town and yet still enjoy some of the things from our old home. The local library is only 5 minutes away and we went to a Teddy Bear picnic which was fun (although insanely hot and in the sun!). We are looking forward to going to Toddler Time on Tuesdays (yay for it being on my day off!) once school starts!

Sweet little baby bear!

-We went to Tia's pool a few times and you love it. You are much more adventurous than someone else was at your age (ahem, Bella!), and have no fear just jumping on in! Thank goodness for swim suits with built in life jackets! You also love eating the entire time we are there : )

-We went to a sunflower farm which sounded like a great idea on paper, but in real life was pretty terrible. It felt like it was 1000 degrees outside, with the sun blazing, and the humidity was so thick we were swimming amongst the flowers. Mix in about 20,000 bees of which you all were scared of and it was loads of fun. Oh and with Bella's leg still broken and you both wanting to be held it was super fun : )

-You are trying to potty train yourself, and Mama is very resistant! You are still so LITTLE!  Never the less, more days than not, you poo poo on the potty rather than in your diaper. I know that if I did a 3 day potty training boot camp with you, you'd probably do amazing, but I'm just not ready for that right now!

-You all love playing in the boxes and they seriously entertain you much longer than any toy in our play room. I'm pretty sure I'm gong to keep a stack in the garage to whip out on rainy days!

-Daddy bought a tool set for you and Isabella and you both LOVE them! Probably one of your favorite things is putting on the protective goggles which just cracks us up!

Sleeping: Bedtime is still around 7:30 Most nights you fall asleep quickly and sleep until about 7am, and we leave you in the crib as long as we can which usually means sometime between 7:30 and 8am.  There are some nights where you stay up in your crib just talking and giggling to yourself for an hour (and sometimes even 9pm!) but that usually only happens once every 10 days or so.
You nap once a day at 1pm, and nap anywhere from 1 hr 15 min to 2.5 hrs. And very occasionally, you will sleep almost 3 hours. But that's not a norm!
Eating: Nothing has changed in this area over the last month, so thank you to copy and paste : ) Some days you are a great eater, and other days you eat very little. You are however consistently picky! And consistently messy!  You refuse to let us feed you because you want to do everything your big sister does, especially using spoons and forks.

I can't get you to eat a green vegetable, or any vegetable (potatoes, sweet potatoes, and corn included!) to save my life! So that's a bummer for mama.
Some of your favorite foods include: macaroni and cheese, squeezies (although you are VERY picky about brand and flavor!), cheerios, cheese, strawberries, bananas, ham (at least on most days), eggs, and plain greek yogur.

Aubrey Loves:
-Bubbles
-Playing outside
-Ruff Ruff, Tweet and Dave and
-Playing musical toys
-Listening to Pandora Kids silly songs in the car

-Taking showers
-Dancing
-Playing hide and seek or being chased
-Puzzles
-Swinging at the park
-Playing tea party and blowing on the hot tea : )
-Playing in Mama's closet, taking out every single shoe and pulling necklaces off the rack!

Aubrey Hates:
-Leaving the park
-Not being able to do something Bella is doing
